(SALEM) - A Salem, Indiana woman has been charged by federal authorities for healthcare fraud, with dollar amounts nearing $800,000.

FBI investigators allege Teresa Jo Hedrick, while responsible for bookkeeping at the transportation company HTS in Salem, submitted claims to state Medicaid authorities saying HTS was transporting Medicaid patients in wheelchairs to medical appointments, when the patients were able to walk, and didn't have to go as far as the documents claimed.

This reportedly cost the Indiana Medicaid program $780,000.

Hedrick will face a magistrate in New Albany, and faces up to 10 years in the clink and up to $250,000 in fines.
