Clinton Whittles Down Debt To IU

Last updated on Thursday, May 29, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University officials have said the Hillary Clinton campaign has made good on some of its debt, but is still behind by more than $35,000.

IU officials say clients, political or not, are given 30 days to pony up before they get a second notice, and that they've never had an issue they could recall where it went beyond that.

Currently, the Clinton campaign is about a week out from that second notice. Clinton owes IU at total bill of $55,000 for appearances by her, her husband Bill, and daughter Chelsea.

Illinois Senator and Democratic rival Barack Obama, who owed more than six figures from his much larger rally as well as Dave Matthews concert, has paid up in full.
