Buyer, Hill Keep Spots To Take On Congressional Challengers

Last updated on Wednesday, May 7, 2008

(UNDATED) - In Southern Indiana’s two main congressional primaries, both 4th District Republican incumbent Steve Buyer and 9th District Democratic incumbent Baron Hill maintained their spots as the parties’ nominees.

Buyer landed a healthy victory over challengers Mike Campbell and LaRon Keith in the 4th District. Buyer will now go on to face Zionsville attorney and Democrat Nels Ackerson, who was unchallenged in last night's primary vote.

In the 9th District, Baron Hill fought off a veritable army of challengers, defeating Bloomington's Gretchen Clearwater, Jasper's John Bottorff, and Versailles' Lendall Terry.

Hill will now go on to face perennial Republican challenger and former Congressman Mike Sodrel for the 4th time around in the November generals.
