Bloomington Biker Dead In Owen County Wreck

Last updated on Wednesday, May 28, 2008

(OWEN COUNTY) - A Bloomington man is dead after an accident in Owen County yesterday afternoon.

State Police Bloomington say 17-year-old Dusty Ranard of Spencer was westbound on IN-46 when he came up on a Mustang stopped in the roadway to make a turn, and rear ended it.

The impact pushed the Mustang out into oncoming traffic, and directly into the path of a Honda motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Barry Gatzke of Bloomington.

All three drivers were taken to Bloomington Hospital for treatment. The drivers of the cars were treated and released.

Gatzke, the motorcycle rider, died of his injuries at the hospital.
