16-Year-Old Bloomington Girl To Face Adult Murder Trial

Last updated on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - A 16-year-old Bloomington girl accused of stabbing a man to death in June of 2007 will face adult murder charges.

According to a report published by the Bloomington Herald-Times, 16-year-old Heather Crawford will stand trial as an adult for the stabbing murder of her mother's boyfriend, 38-year-old Michael Lewis.

Crawford faces felonies of murder and battery resulting in serious bodily injury after she allegedly stabbed Lewis once, killing him.

Monroe Circuit Judge Steve Galvin said the court did not find evidence that trying Crawford as a juvenile would be in the best interest of the girl, nor the welfare of the community.
