Orleans Couple Jailed After Fight, One Man Threatening Officer

Last updated on Monday, April 14, 2008

(BEDFORD) - An Orleans couple are in jail after getting into a fight at the AAA Gas Station in Bedford early Saturday morning.

Bedford police say an officer observed a car driven by 30-year-old Nichole Harding of Orleans pull into the gas station and stop, turning off its headlights.

Just a moment afterwards, Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley tells WBIW News Harding jumped out of the car and took off running down the road, followed by a man, 45-year-old Kim Belvins.

Police allege Belvins tackled Harding to the ground and struck her in the face several times with closed fists. When the officer separated the two and tried to put Belvins in cuffs, the officer reports the man fought back, and told him when he gets out of jail, he would harm the officer.

The officer took both people into custody. Harding is charged with driving while intoxicated and public intoxication.

Belvins is charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force and intimidation.
