DNR Training Eight Furry New Officers Near Martinsville

Last updated on Friday, April 11, 2008

(MARTINSVILLE) - Indiana conservation officers are training eight new K-9 officers at Morgan-Monroe State Forest near Martinsville.

The dogs and their handlers are trained in man-tracking, evidence recovery, searches and fish and wildlife detection.

DNR officials say the K-9 officers have proven to be a great asset to conservation officers with their lifesaving ability to locate people who have become lost in the outdoors.

All of the dogs are donated, many coming from shelters.
