Water, Water Everywhere (With Updated Road List)

Last updated on Thursday, March 20, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Though flooding problems are slowly decreasing, we’re not out of the weeds yet.

The state of emergency in Orange County has been lifted, however IN-37 remains flooded at from around Liberty Street to Monroe St. in Orleans, and continues with problems toward Paoli.

French Lick remains a water logged mess, and a number of roads in Lawrence, Monroe, Brown, Greene, Orange and Jackson Counties remain closed or otherwise compromised by flood waters.

Orleans Clerk-Treasurer Robert Henderson, Jr. says rumors of the town lake levy failing were not true. However, Henderson also advises parents to keep their kids out of the flood water, as it poses health hazards.

General flood warnings in Lawrence and surrounding counties are scheduled through 2:00pm this afternoon.

They have also added a flood warning for small streams in Lawrence, Jackson, Monroe, Martin, Brown, Greene and Bartholomew Counties through 9:30 tonight.

Finally, areas along the White River in Bedford, Williams, Seymour, Shoals, and beyond are expected to see rising waters through the middle of the weekend.

What makes things worse is these current flooding predictions don't seem to take into effect rain that is forecasted for tomorrow night and on into Saturday.

So make sure you keep tuned to WBIW for the latest information available on flooding conditions and see below for the most current available list of flooded roads in the area.
