(CAREFREE) - A Jasper Engines plant in Crawford County suffered an explosion that injured at least 28 employees.

26 of those people were taken by ambulance to Harrison County Hospital, and 2 more went by themselves.

State police say as of around 9:30 last night, all but one of those individuals had been released, no injuries were thought to be life threatening.

The Louisville Metro Hazardous Materials Team has determined the explosion is the result of an accidental mixing of sulfuric acid and ferric chloride.

The factory reportedly suffered structural damage in the explosion, and emergency crews had IN-66 shut down for about 7 hours.

Emergency crews from as far away as Louisville helped respond to the accident, however, any chemical spills resulting from the incident have been contained.
