Woman Hits Parked Car, Runs Off, Gets Caught

Last updated on Tuesday, February 19, 2008

(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell woman is in jail for reportedly running off after hitting a parked car.

Bedford police say 31-year-old Dara Hagemier of Mitchell ran into a parked car near the 300 block of S Street after getting into a reported dispute with her ex husband.

Reports say she left the house in her yellow Mustang, struck the parked car, and her ex called police to inform them of what had happened as she kept on going. Bedford officers located her near the bridge on IN-37, but after officers turned on emergency lights, she apparently didn't stop.

She would keep going until she came to the intersection of IN-37 and US-50, and then bailed. Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley said they called for assistance from a Lawrence County Canine Unit and tracked Hagemier to a nearby apartment where she was arrested.

Hagemier was taken to Lawrence County jail charged with misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, and resisting arrest by fleeing both on foot and by vehicle.
