Man Escapes Police Several Times, Eventually Caught

Last updated on Monday, February 11, 2008

(BEDFORD)- A Bedford man was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest after running from police.

Friday night, police got a call about a suspicious person near the Kocolene gas station and, when they spotted the man in question on 28th Street, the man, 22-year-old David Barton of Bedford, allegedly took off running.

Barton would manage to evade Bedford officers a number of times, however, persistence paid off for the police, and they would eventually make the arrest and take him in without further incident.

Barton stands charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest by fleeing.

Bedford police say they have no idea why the man ran in the first place.
