Hoosiers 2-0 Under Dakich So Far

Last updated on Wednesday, February 27, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana Hoosiers basketball squad is seeming to be little worse for the wear after Coach Sampson was let go for alleged NCAA rules violations last week.

So far, under new interim head Coach Dan Dakich, the Hoosiers have gone 2-0, taking down the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston, Illinois Saturday night, and now last night, catching their first post-Sampson home win over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

However, both games were 3-point squeakers. Indiana's win over Northwestern was 85-82, and they beat Ohio State only 72-69.

Despite that, the issue doesn't seem to be general confidence in Dakich, who has played second fiddle to both Bobby Knight and Kelvin Sampson for more than 400 games.

Dakich came out on the Assembly Hall floor to a standing ovation, and left with an even more energetic response.

At 13-2 in conference play, though, Indiana still remains behind Wisconsin in Big Ten standings, but are close.

And Sunday afternoon, the Hoosiers look to get one step closer as they visit the Michigan State Spartans at 2:00pm.
