Can't Be Firefighter, Keith Trying To Help People As Politician

Last updated on Thursday, February 21, 2008

(BEDFORD) - Bedford’s LaRon Keith may be out of the governor’s race, but that doesn’t mean he’s done running.

Keith, who is to be listed on the ballot as "Firefighter" LaRon Keith, is set and filed to run against Republican Congressman Steve Buyer in the May 6th Republican primary.

Keith had previously announced his dropping out of the race for governor citing injuries he had sustained in an automobile accident making it difficult to obtain the 500 signatures he needed in each of Indiana's nine congressional districts.

However, he has gotten enough in his home 4th District, which includes Lawrence County, to put his name next to long-time Republican Congressman Steve Buyer.

Keith told WBIW News that, since his injuries prevent him from helping people as a firefighter, he wanted to try and help people as a politician.

Buyer's campaign could not be reached by press time for comment, however, we will keep you up to date on this race and every other that affects our listeners as things happen.
