(BLOOMINGTON) - Federal authorities Friday unsealed the search warrant requests related to the raid on a Bloomington doctor’s offices and house in December.
According to the search warrant requests, "Tiwari is being investigated for double billing, up-coding, and providing medically unnecessary services" in violation of federal law. Tiwari is also being investigated for possibly "prescribing controlled substances outside the scope of professional medical practice, and not for legitimate medical purposes."
Another search warrant notes that "at least four patients of Dr. Tiwari have died recently while under his care." Two of those deaths were linked to overdoses on medications prescribed by Tiwari.
The investigation into Tiwari and his medical practice began in 2003.
