(COLUMBUS) - All over the state, the first babies born in 2008 are snuggling up to their moms.
In Columbus, Alexis Jihovany Salas-Duran may take honors as the first baby born in 2008 at Columbus Regional Hospital. If so, Salas-Duran's family will win the first baby contest and receive numerous prizes, including baby portraits and several gift cards.
Hospital officials won't know until later this week if Salas-Duran was the first or if another baby was born sooner.
