(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The United States Department of Agriculture has approved a request by Governor Mitch Daniels and the entire Indiana congressional delegation for disaster relief due to last summers severe drought.

In all, 74 of Indiana's 92 counties, including all counties within the WBIW listening area, are eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency.

Both Daniels and Democratic Congressman Baron Hill of Indiana's 9th district are reportedly pleased with the outcome of the decision.

The USDA says area farmers are now eligible to be considered for Farm Service Agency loans and should contact their local FSA office for details.
