(PAOLI) - Bill Fullington of the Orange County Sheriff's Department is reporting a significant increase in the ransacking of vehicles, homes and out-buildings in the past week, and is encouraging everyone to lock up!

Fullington says during the past week, more than 20 reports of unlocked vehicles being ransacked and robbed have come in.

Sheriff Richard Dixon says people, especially north and east of Paoli, have been canvassing neighborhoods looking for unlocked car doors and stealing weapons, money and other valuables.

Dixon says he doesn't know exactly what they're looking for, but it seems most anything is fair game.

Dixon says all Orange County residents should keep all doors locked, car, home and otherwise, and to not leave valuables or anything containing personal information like driver's licenses in your vehicle.

Dixon especially wants anyone who sees suspicious activity, or knows anything about these burglaries, to call the Sheriff's Department at (812) 723-2417.
