(JASPER) - Whatever killed 12 cows on a New Washington farm is no danger to other farm animals.
Purdue's Heeke Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory won't reveal why the cows died suddenly on Saturday, because of privacy issues.
Lab Director Duane Murphy says preliminary tests point to a non-infectious cause. The lab had said it would investigate whether soybean feed the cattle received may have been a factor.
Murphy says Purdue Ag scientists have been preparing an article warning there are risks to some alternative feeds farmers have turned to because of this year's drought. He won't say whether it's a factor in this case.
