Couple Caught Going Wrong Way On SR-37, US-50

(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested on alcohol related charges this morning after driving the wrong way on 2 different highways.

Bedford police say 28-year-old Brooks Elliott was allegedly spotted by Bedford police traveling south in the northbound lanes of SR-37, and then turned east into the westbound lanes of US-50.

Police caught up with him in the Wendy's parking lot and, when they made contact, say they noticed he had been drinking.

Elliott was taken in and failed a blood-alcohol test, and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving while suspended, driving the wrong way on a one way road, having an open container in his vehicle, and was also wanted on a warrant out of Floyd County for violation of probation.

His passenger, 42-year-old Tamara Moore was charged with public intoxication.
