(BEDFORD) - The Family Dollar store on 16th Street in Bedford has been having a busy time with shoplifters lately.

Tuesday afternoon, 34-year-old Misty Reed of Orleans was caught allegedly stealing a shirt and some socks from the Family Dollar and was detained by store management.

Bedford police were called to the scene, arrested Reed and charged her with theft. Then, late Tuesday night, 46-year-old Cynthia Chandler of Bedford was arrested for theft when she was allegedly spotted stealing other clothing items from the same store.

According to the Bedford police report, Chandler ran in behind the store, but was found by Bedford officers.

Store employees identified Chandler as the thief and she was reportedly found in possession of Family Dollar property.

Both were taken to Lawrence County jail.
