(BEDFORD) - The Bedford mayoral race is starting to warm up with the first officially announced major endorsement.

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman has endorsed mayoral candidate Jean Williams in her bid for city hall.

Williams said she was honored by the endorsement and that Skillman will appear at a fundraiser for her campaign this evening.

Jean Williams, the wife of former long-time Bedford Mayor John Williams, defeated Mayor Joe Klumpp in the Republican primary and is now challenging Shawna Girgis and Al Craig in the November 6th contest.
