Car Theft Spike Starting To Move To Mitchell

Last updated on Friday, September 7, 2007

(MITCHELL) - Mitchell police are investigating a pair of auto thefts they think may be related.

A mid-90s Ford Thunderbird was taken from near the intersection of 6th and Oak Streets and, no more than 4 blocks away, a late-90s Ford pickup was also taken.

The pickup was found rolled over in a ditch near Lehigh quarry. The Thunderbird was recovered in a parking lot on Knott St.

Previously, Bedford police information officer Major Dennis Parsley told WBIW news there has been a glut of car thefts in the area and urged people to lock their doors and take their keys with them since most cars reported stolen to them have been left unsecured.
