BUEA Build Days Set For This Saturday And Sunday

Last updated on Wednesday, August 1, 2007

(BEDFORD) - Natasha Johns with the Bedford Urban Enterprise Association will have a busy weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

Johns will be overseeing the building of not one, but two playgrounds for the city. She has been raising money for playgrounds at the Edgewood and Sycamore Parks. Johns is still looking for about $5,000 to be able to complete the two areas. She says officials at the Bedford Visteon plant recently donated $1,000 after hearing the story here on this radio station. Johns is awaiting grants from Duke Energy, Vectren and the Alliance With Indiana which will bring in about $4,000.

The one thing needed most is volunteers. Johns says volunteers will build the playground, planter benches, and repaint the swing set at the Edgewood Park on 16th Street. At the Sycamore Park at 8th Street and John Williams Boulevard, volunteers will construct the playground, painter benches, build picnic tables and do some landscaping.

What do volunteers need to bring? Johns says bring any tools, shovels, post hole diggers, and especially wheel barrels to the playground sites.

Work will begin at 8:00AM both Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at both locations.

Johns says you can call her for more information at 345-2795.
