Last updated on Tuesday, July 17, 2007

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Police were kept busy early Monday morning with two accidents that occurred roughly at the same time.

The first incident involved a personal injury. Police say 27-year-old Lisa Johnson, of Orleans, was attempting to turn in her vehicle onto Boone Lane from State Road 37 near Mitchell.

25-year-old Stephanie Edwards, of Mitchell, was approaching from behind Johnson in her vehicle. Edwards told police that she saw Johnson's brake lights but was unable to stop in time. Edwards tried to swerve, but her auto collided with the rear of Johnson's auto.

Johnson complained of head and neck pain following the crash and she was taken to Bedford Regional Medical Center for treatment. Johnson's vehicle was considered a total loss, Edward's auto suffered between $5,000 and $10,000 of front end damage.

The Marion Volunteer Fire Department and the Mitchell Police Department assisted at the scene.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County Police were called to D&D 37 One-Stop in Judah to a report of a three car accident.

Police say one car attempted to pull onto State Road 37 from Old State Road 37 and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

A third vehicle following from behind hit the second vehicle causing the pile-up.

No one was apparently injured in the mishap.
