Local Taxpayers Can Appeal Property Tax Rates

Last updated on Friday, July 6, 2007

BEDFORD - Since a new fair market value formula was implemented this year in Indiana to provide new tax rates to Hoosier properties, many people have felt the pinch with the higher tax prices.

Taxpayers in Lawrence County have an opportunity to make an appeal and Monday is the last day to do so.

Taxpayers can file their appeals at the Lawrence County Assessors office in the Courthouse on the square in Bedford. Those in the Shawswick Township, the City of Bedford and the Town of Oolitic have until next Friday, July 13th. Tax statements were mailed a few days later to those residents.

Homeowners can submit either a letter or an appeal form. Forms are available at the Lawrence County Assessor's office.

For more information, contact Lawrence County Assessor April Collins at 275-5405.
