2007 Hoosier Lifetime Award Winner Announced

(MITCHELL) - Hoosier Uplands/Area 15 Agency on Aging serving Lawrence, Orange, Washington and Crawford counties has announced their 2007 Hoosier Lifetime Award winner.

Ronald Virgil Essex of Lawrence County has been chosen for the highest honor given to an older person by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.

Better known to his friends as Virgil, Essex has lived in many states and has played in many bands. Essex has played alongside the likes of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. Essex also has a singing contract with Donna Fargo.

Essex is active in volunteering and plays at the Mitchell Senior Center frequently. This award recognizes a lifetime of service and helping improve the quality of life in the community.
