Last updated on Tuesday, June 19, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University Football Coach Terry Hoeppner has died—that word today from officials from IU.

The university recently announced that the 59-year-old would not coach the team this fall because of medical issues. He had surgery to remove a brain tumor in 2005 and additional surgery last fall for scar tissue.

Hoeppner was said to be under going chemo and radiation therapy in recent weeks.

The Woodburn, Indiana native compiled a 9-and-14 record in two seasons with the Hoosiers.

Viewing and funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

A planned groundbreaking ceremony for the new athletic facilities will still be held at 3:00PM today near Memorial Stadium, according to IU officials.
