Mock Disaster Drill Held East Of Bedford

(BEDFORD) - A mock disaster was held at the Tabernacle of Praise Church east of Bedford on Thursday night.

Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauser says the drill consisted of a school and truck hitting head-on with 33 people injured in the incident. .

Lincoln School 5th grader Alissa Gardner got into the act, along with her friend Anabelle Edwards. Katie McDonald played a part in the drill as well.

Luchauser says the Bedford Fire Department along with the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department, Dunn Memorial Hospital and Bedford Regional Medical Center Ambulance Services and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department assisted in the drill.

Luchauser says that the departments attempt to practice these type of drills about once a year.
