Golf Outing Kicks Off Limestone Heritage Festival

(BEDFORD) - The official start of the 2007 Limestone Heritage Festival begins today with the Hoosier Hills Credit Union Patriot Golf Outing at the Stone Crest Golf Course.

Another highlight of the festival is the sales of a special dessert. Penny May explains that the Strawberry Shortcake will be sold at the Gazebo at Harp Commons on the square, Friday, June 29th.

Gales says the theme is this year's Festival is "Coming Home..."

Another highlight of the Festival is the fly over at the 4th of July Parade. Gales says one or two Blackhawk helicopters will fly over around Noon.

The Grand Marshall will have a special lap on the parade course that will begin at 11:30AM. The marshall will then be able to sit at the VIP tent on the Bedford square and enjoy the reminder of the parade.

One new event during the Festival will be the beautiful barrel contest. Gales says anyone can purchase a barrel for $30 and decorate their barrels anyway they want. The barrels will line the parade route on the 4th of July.

A new activity is the dodgeball tournament. The tournament will be held at the Boys and Girls Clubs on Tuesday, July 3rd.

July 4th will be filled with more activities including the Parade at 11:30AM, the Old-fashioned Ice Cream Social featuring the Residue band. The Lawrence County Community Band Concert will be held at 5:30PM with the free outdoor concert with Jeff Day and Friends to follow.

The pre-fireworks patriot salute will then be held at 10:00PM and fireworks will go off around 10:15PM.
