Indiana County Wants National Title

Last updated on Tuesday, May 29, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON) - Officials in Monroe County are seeking a federal historic designation.

The Preserve America honor would make Monroe County the state's only county with the distinction. Only six other Indiana cities or neighborhoods have the federal designation of a Preserve America community including Bedford.

Being named a Preserve America community would make Monroe County eligible for federal grant money for restoration and other preservation projects.
