Road Rage Incident Ends With Arrest

Last updated on Monday, April 2, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Solsberry man is in jail after a bout of road rage in Bloomington.

57-year-old Jeffrey Boyd was arrested Friday night after he was accused of waving a 9 millimeter handgun at a car with two children as passengers.

Police say a white Geo merged into traffic ahead of Boyd's Ford Bronco and Boyd began tailgating the car and flashing his high-beam lights. The geo driver slowed to 20 miles per hour to let Boyd pass. Boyd didn't pass and instead parked the Bronco behind the Geo.

Both men got out of their vehicles and began arguing. When the Geo driver got back in his car and drove away, Boyd followed closely. He then began waving his gun in the air.

The Geo driver called 911. A short time later, both men went to Bloomington Police headquarters to report the incident. Boyd told police he was trying to teach the Geo driver a lesson.

Boyd was taken into custody and booked into the Monroe County Jail.
