South "I" Street Bridge Gets Additional Money

Last updated on Wednesday, April 25, 2007

(BEDFORD) - Work continues on the south “I” Street bridge to make it safer for drivers.

An additional $50,000 will be used to pay for construction to straighten the structure.

Officials say to keep costs down used steel is being used to reinforce the bridge. Tests on the steel show it will be satisfactory for the new bridge. They say this will save about $40,000 on the total cost.

To straighten the bridge additional land will have to be purchased to expand the bridge. It is unknown how long the construction will continue.
