Police End Hostage Situation

Last updated on Thursday, April 19, 2007

(MOORESVILLE) - A hostage situation in Crawford County ended after seven hours of excitement.

Indiana State Police say 44-year-old Todd Dunn, of Brownsburg, was allegedly committing a burglary Wednesday afternoon at a residence near Mooresville when the homeowner walked in on him.

Dunn allegedly abducted the homeowner and stole his truck. As they were driving on I-64 and State Road 37 the homeowner jumped from the moving vehicle. He then called police on his cell phone.

Dunn was spotted by a Crawford County Sheriff's deputy. Dunn rammed the cruiser, making it undrivable.

Dunn then stole another truck. He drove to Marengo, ending up in a residence's yard. Taking a 12 gauge shotgun, he broke into the home where two children, ages 14 and 7, were there.

Police immediately surrounded the home and talked Dunn outside. Neither boy was harmed.

Dunn was then arrested and taken to the Crawford County jail without incident at 11:35PM last night.

The Crawford County Prosecutor will determine what criminal charges will be filed against Dunn.
