KKK Leader Speaks Out

Last updated on Thursday, April 5, 2007

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Ku Klux Klan leader says he has no plans to comply with a request from Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan regarding a spring march by the white supremacist group.

Kruzan has asked KKK leader Phil Lawson to request his followers to doff their white hoods during the march.

But, because the city does not have a law banning the wearing of hoods or masks, there's little legal basis for Kruzan to make his request a demand.

Lawson calls Kruzan "small peanuts" and says the mayor's comments carry little weight.
