Man Runs From Police, Meth Lab Found In Car

Last updated on Monday, March 12, 2007

(VALEENE) - Orange County Police, along with the Indiana State Police, Paoli Police, and the Indiana Conservation Department were called to find a man who tried to run from an Orange County deputy.

Deputy Dave Moffit spotted a speeding vehicle in Valeene and began to pursue the driver. The driver quickly stopped the car and fled on foot, running into a nearby wooded area.

Moffit called for backup and they were able to track down 30-year-old Carl Cochran, of Hardinsburg, near the woods by Patoka Lake. A check of his auto found a meth lab.

Police arrested Cochran and booked him on various drug charges including manufacturing methamphetamine with intent to deal. Cochran is in the Orange County jail without bond and is awaiting his first hearing.

Orange County Sheriff Richard Dixon says this is another example of how several police departments can come together and help combat the drug problem in Orange County.
