Johnson's Body Headed To Cedar Rapids

Last updated on Thursday, March 8, 2007

(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA) - The body of the man who slammed into his former mother-in-law’s home in an airplane accident on Monday is headed to Iowa.

47-year-old Eric Johnson moved away from Cedar Rapids, Iowa after he graduated from high school in 1978. His mother, Joyce Johnson, who still lived in Cedar Rapids, said her son often returned for family gatherings, bringing his daughter with him.

Indiana police believe the crash was deliberate. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Joyce says she does not believe the incident was intentional--instead she believes that a mechanical problem likely caused the crash.
