Women Tossed From Vehicle During Auto Accident

(MITCHELL) - An accident in Mitchell injured three people and sent one to an Indianapolis hospital.

Lawrence Count Police report that 20-year-old Kimberly Terrel, of Mitchell, was coming from Rairden Hill and crossed State Road 37 without stopping at the stop sign. Perry East, of Bedford, was traveling on State Road 37 when his car slammed into the side of Terrel's auto.

Both vehicles were forced off the road, went over an embankment and into a yard. Terrel was thrown from her vehicle and was found unconscious in the intersection of the road. Her auto had traveled over 170 feet before coming to a stop.

Terrel was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room and later transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. East suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Bedford Regional Medical Center for treatment.

William Scherschel, of Mitchell, was a passenger in Terrel's vehicle. He complained of head pain at the scene and was taken to BRMC.

Terrel has been cited for disregarding a stop sign.
