(BEDFORD) - Off-duty Lawrence County police officers will be assisting with security at the Bedford North Lawrence High School.

An agreement has been signed between North Lawrence Community Schools and the Lawrence County Police Department through grants made available to the school. This will allow the school police protection without having to hire and train new officers.

The funding will be available for about the next six months with NLCS possibly renewing the grant to extend the service.
