(MARTINSBURG) - A Martinsburg woman, in Southeastern Washington County, has been murdered in her home.
Indiana State Police say 44-year-old Marguerita Bates was found in her home laying on the floor. They also found 41-year-old William Champion, Jr., in the home and sent him to the hospital for observation.
Champion was later released, but police went back to talk to him and placed him under arrest for murder. Champion was then taken to the Washington County jail to await his first court appearance.
An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine Bates' cause of death.
