Last updated on Tuesday, February 27, 2007

(BEDFORD) - An accident Monday on John Williams Boulevard sent out Bedford Police, the Bedford Fire Department and the Dunn Memorial ambulance service.

Police say 59-year-old Harry James Colburn, of Bedford, attempted to cross John Williams Boulevard at "R" Street and was struck by a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Louis Patterson, of West Baden.

Patterson tried to avoid the collision, but the crash caused Colburn's auto to drive across the sidewalk, strike a concrete retaining wall and overturn his auto.

Both drivers suffered abrasions to their foreheads. Dunn ambulance EMS treated the two with their injures. The Bedford Fire Department was called to clean up the debris in the road.

The autos suffered between $10,000 to $25,000 damage. Colburn was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
