Stop Signs Possibly Caused Accident

Last updated on Friday, February 2, 2007

(AVOCA) - A Bedford teen refused medical treatment after her vehicle was hit by a Bedford man’s vehicle.

The accident occurred on Avoca-Eureka Road near Avoca. Police say 17-year-old Nicole Martin was turning onto Avoca-Eureka Road from Green Hill Addition Road when 57-year-old James Mosier, Jr. came over the hill in his auto and hit her. Mosier told police he saw Martin's vehicle, but couldn't stop in time. He tried to swerve leaving a 45 foot skid mark.

Police say the stop signs at that intersection need to be examined and possibly moved closer to the crossroad. The Lawrence County Highway Department has been informed of the problem there.
