(WHITFIELD) - An accident on Hwy. 231, in Whitfield, injured four youths over the weekend.

Martin County Police say 19-year-old Ronnie Jones fell asleep at the wheel, drove left of center, and collided with a culvert causing the vehicle to go air-born striking and clipping a Verizon utility pole. The vehicle then rolled twice before coming to rest upright.

One of the passengers, 22-year-old Destiny Black-Grave, from Jasper, was having medical problems when police arrived. Two others suffered minor injures.

All were treated and released from the local hospital. Traffic on Hwy. 231 was diverted while workers from Verizon replaced the downed lines.
