Ideas Presented On Updating Bedford Downtown Convention Center

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Urban Enterprise Association met last night with architect Steve Alexander of Prince Alexander of Indianapolis.

Alexander spoke to the board about upgrading the Bedford Downtown Convention Center with a new entry way for the building and ideas for inside the building. Several ideas were presented in combination with the Lawrence County History Museum. A plan will be presented at the next Bedford Plan Commission meeting.

In other business, workers at the Old Milwaukee Depot are awaiting a second load of roof tiles to install at the historic building. Work will begin on the inside of the structure once the roof is secure.

Beth Snead told the board that GM Powertrain gave $300 toward the purchase of new basketball goals for the Beech Street Playground. Snead also mentioned a change of the Indiana Development Association to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Jamie Harris mentioned that Natasha Jones, who was instrumental in building the Englewood Playground last summer, has been nominated to the Indiana Salute to Women. A ceremony will be held at Conseco Fieldhouse on January 23rd.
