BEDFORD--The newest member of the Bedford Police Department is 16-months-old.

He is a German Shepard named North. North was purchased from Von Der Haus Gill Kennels in Wapakoneta, Ohio. His training and certification process began with certification later in the year.

Bedford Police Department Media Coordinator Major Dennis Parsley says community participation to purchase and maintain North was overwhelming. Parsley offered his thanks to the Bedford Moose Lodge #689, Keach and Grove Insurance, Copy Trolley, Pierce Automotive, Sipes Body and Glass and McIntyre Brothers for their participation in the purchase of North.
