General Primary Election - May 6th, 2008
Hoosiers across the state vote in an open primary election. According to Wikipedia, "voters do not need to be a member of a particular political party in order to vote in that party's [open] primary. In particular, a registered voter of one party can vote in the primary of another party. However, one can vote in only one primary."

U.S. General Election - November 4th, 2008
According to Wikipedia, "Election Day in the United States is the day set by law for the selection of public officials by popular ballot. For federal offices, it occurs on the Tuesday following the first Monday of November (the Tuesday between November 2 and November 8, inclusively). Federal elections are always held every even numbered year. Many state and local government offices are also elected on Election Day as a matter of convenience and cost saving. However, a handful of states hold elections for state offices during odd numbered, off years; this varies according to state and local laws."
