(UNDATED) - A revamped schedule at the Republican National Convention, because of Hurricane Gustav, forced the cancellation of a prime time speech by Indiana Representative Mike Pence Wednesday night.

Some items on the agenda were scratched as they tried to make up for time lost when much of the activities were suspended Monday because of the hurricane. The 6th District Congressman says he agrees with the decision.

He said, regardless of the impact on him, he's proud of the fact that the Republican Party set aside politics and put the interests of our citizens first as the hurricane made it through the gulf.

Pence did get to speak to the Indiana delegation Wednesday.

He says he and his wife Karen are enjoying the time they're spending with Hoosiers and it was an honor to be invited to speak and he completely understands that the extraordinary circumstances of earlier this week didn't make it possible.
