(DAYTON, OH) - It’s official, in a seeming surprise move, Arizona Senator and Republican presidential candidate John McCain has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate.

As of this morning, prediction markets had Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota tied as front runners, and no one was really even talking about Palin...until a plane from Alaska touched down near Dayton, Ohio late this morning, where McCain was scheduled to reveal his pick.

Palin is serving her first term as Governor of the Land of the Midnight Sun, and has a reputation as a tough ethics reformer but also has seen some controversy when some allege she fired her public safety director because he refused to fire her ex brother-in-law, a charge she says she vehemently denies.

However, her being a woman could attract some disaffected Hillary Clinton voters, which is a plus in her column.

Either way, America breaks new ground in a big way November 4th.
