(UNDATED) - Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Jill Long Thompson says she’ll launch a review of all the state’s privatization contracts if she’s elected.

Thompson says her Lieutenant Governor Dennie Oxley would lead a bipartisan commission to assess whether the state's getting a good deal, and if not, whether there's a way to renegotiate or buy out the deal.

Thompson says she doesn't have a specific plan in mind for dealing with objectionable contracts. She acknowledges the state can't unilaterally break a contract, and says she doubts the state's private partners will want to renegotiate deals she contends are giveaways.

That would appear to leave paying a fee to buy the state's way out of a contract. Thompson says the committee may come up with solutions she and Oxley haven't thought of.

Thompson says if the committee concluded a deal was good, she'd keep it, but says she seriously doubts that would happen.
