Rokita Criticizes Lake County's Delay Reporting Results
(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita is criticizing the slow vote results in Lake County.
The state's second-most populous with nearly 500,000 people reported partial results only several hours after the polls closed. A large number of absentee ballots and a record turnout delayed the tallies.
The slow counting in Lake County drew national media attention.
Rokita notes that every other urban area of Indiana manages to get quick results. IUPUI political analyst Brian Vargus says going back 30 years, Lake County has often been late in delivering vote totals.
