(UNDATED) - A controversial 527 group is running anti-Barack Obama ads in Indiana as of this morning, and not only is the Obama camp upset, they say it’s illegal!

The American Leadership Project, a 527 group closely linked to the Hillary Clinton campaign, started an ad on Indiana TV stations this morning saying Obama has no specific economic plan. The Obama camp fires back by saying the have a 48-page economic plan, and that the ALP is circumventing federal election law, with it's many financial, and possibly operational links to the Clinton campaign.

And the links to the Clinton, campaign are many. The biggest donor, who has supplied $1.2 million of the groups current $1.4 million dollars on hand, according to Obama campaign officials, is the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, a union that has already endorsed Sen. Clinton. The group's leadership includes a man named Jason Kinney, who has already maxed his personal donations to both Clinton's primary and general election funds according to FEC filings, also Erick Mullen who has maxed donations to one of those funds and is working on another, and Mattis Goldman, who is a former employee of DCO Media, a group who is advising the Clinton campaign.

However, in a conference call late this morning, the Obama camp has said, though they accuse the ALP of violating federal election law, they haven't done much about it. This is an interesting claim since the group has been working against the Obama campaign since the end of February, airing ads in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and now Indiana.

One of Obama's advisors say the ALP is more "flagrant" about violating election law than the now-infamous 527 group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which was fined more than $200,000 by the Federal Election Commission after the 2004 elections.
